Questions to ask when looking for an estimate:
It's important that you ask the right questions when looking into a water feature. There are
questions you need to ask yourself AND those you are interviewing for the job.
1) Room
Where do you want your water feature and why? Think about where you spend your Summer
outdoor time in your yard and be sure to ask what size pond your yard can accommodate and
the best placement areas. Use a garden hose to create an outline with the size and placement
idea you have for your water feature!
2) Cost
Be sure to get a written estimate listing the materials and costs of the items needed to
create your aquatic paradise! There are many items to think about...rock/stone, lighting, pumps,
and skimmers. The stone needed will usually be priced on your estimate as a per ton cost with
the anticipated amount needed, but may need to be adjusted during construction. There is
underwater, as well as, out of water lighting options available. If you spend evenings by your
pond, lighting is an important item to think about including. There are many pumps and
skimmers available and they have a wide price range...KEEP IN MIND an inexpensive pump
may end up costing you a lot of money to run. They are many extra features you may want to add
that will help you with maintaining your pond like low water shutoff valves and automatic water
fillers.
3) Maintenance
How much time do you want to spend maintaining your pond? See below for information on
our maintenance services.
4) Safety
Do you have young children? Consider starting with a waterfall and maybe adding the pond
when the kids are older!
5) Equipment Efficiency
Consider purchasing an energy efficient pump. The initial cost of the pump will be more, but
you will benefit with lower electricity costs!
